Anticipated films of 2009

I’m not always completely up on what is coming out in the coming year, but here are the films coming out this year that I’m most excited about…in order of excitement.

The Road -Little piece of trivia for you: Director of The Road as well as Nick Cave written and scored The Proposition John Hillcoat got a thank you on Cave’s The Good Son album all those years ago. Didn’t know they went back so far!

Terminator: Salvation – it won’t be good but I’ll enjoy it nonetheless. I like the Terminator series and I’m a sucker for post-apocalypse! (see film #1 on this list)

500 Days of Summer – I bagged on this trailer when it came out but apparently this is not one of those indie rom-coms that you end up hating yourself for seeing (*cough Garden State *cough). And it’s got my girlfriend in it too.

A Serious Man – it’s Coens, so I’m there.

Das Weiße Band – it’s Haneke, ditto.

Up – Diametrically opposite of Michael Haneke is Pixar. Looks cute.

Where the Wild Things Are – could be good.

Wolverine – Flying headfirst into a helicopter. Clearly this will be a thoughtful and meditative film with a lot of talking and emotions.

Grey Gardens – Fictionalized based upon the life of Big and Little Edite. I don’t know if this will be any good at all but I guess I’ll see it.

Om…the Last House on the Left remake? I suppose I’ll see it, why not?

What are you looking forward to?

I, for one, cannot imagine any fictionalized life of Big and Little Edie being anywhere NEAR as entertaining as the real story.

Also, I think the Last House on the Left remake looks like rubbish. I don’t understand the point of remaking the film at all, though. Of course, the remake trend as a whole pretty much baffles me.
